PEER REVIEW PROCESS

All submitted manuscripts must be original works that have not been previously published or submitted to other journals. All accepted manuscripts will undergo a blind review process with the following stages:

  1. Scope Review. The Editor-in-Chief of CERIA will evaluate the manuscript for potential plagiarism using software like Turnitin, configured to exclude repositories and bibliographies. Manuscripts with a similarity rate exceeding 30-40% will not proceed to the next stage. Additionally, the Editor-in-Chief will ensure that the manuscript aligns with CERIA’s focus and scope.
  2. Initial Review. Manuscripts that pass the scope review will be forwarded to section editors by the Editor-in-Chief. Assistant editors will support the managing editor in addressing technical issues such as grammatical errors, citations, and paraphrasing. The principal section editor will appoint members of the editorial board to initiate the blind review process.
  3. Content Review. Blind reviewers will critically assess the manuscript's content, including the title, abstract, introduction, research questions, thesis arguments, methods of data collection and analysis, and discussion. Reviewers may also provide open suggestions for additional references to enrich the discussion.
  4. Expert Review. Another blind reviewer will evaluate the manuscript's discussion and contextualize it within the global discourse on Islamic or Muslim community issues.
  5. Manuscript Revision. Authors will revise their manuscripts based on the reviewers' comments, addressing both content and technical issues. This revision process typically takes two to four weeks. The section editor will then re-evaluate the revised manuscript. If the revisions are deemed insufficient, the section editor will request further modifications.
  6. Final Decision. The revised manuscript will either be accepted or rejected. Manuscripts will be rejected if the required revisions are not adequately addressed.
  7. Galley Stage. Accepted manuscripts will be formatted by the journal's layout team and returned to the authors for final proofreading and approval.
  8. Publication. The finalized version of the manuscript will be published in the latest issue of CERIA
